   One noticeable change is the addition of "Away" to the tray icon as an actual settable status from there. Before, it had to be done from your avatar. Additionally, when you set yourself to "Away," the icon changes to yellow, but unlike old Skype, its color will not shift to yellow automatically with inactivity.
   
   The "default" color of the tray icon is back to classic green from Skype 8's previous blue.

   There is something strange here, because the most advanced version of Skype from the official website is only 8.50.0.38. Could this be malware?

      Hello Ira,
      This is definitely not malware. You can easily check digital signature and find out that this file is signed by Skype Software Sarl/Microsoft. Moreover, the version 8.51.0.80 is available for both Android and MacOS.
      
      It seems this version was revoked from public access, because some users are encountering the following error:

      A Java script error occurred in the main process Uncaught Exception: Error: The specified module could not be found C:\\Program Files\Microsoft\Skype for Desktop\resources\app.asar.unpacked\node_modules\slimcore\bin\sharing-indicator.node

   I am not able to install any version of Skype on my laptop with windows 8.1 pro. It is constantly giving error for all versions of Skype.
   
   This error:
   

   Unable to execute file in the temporary directory. Setup aborted
   Error 5: Access is denied

   
   Can anybody help me?

      Hi! Right-click on the Skype setup file and choose "Run as administrator".

   I used to be able to call someone and show them on half a screen and myself on the other half. Not anymore.
   
   What happened?
   
   I'm using Skype 8.51.0.72 wwith application version 14.51.72.0 …
