“Failed to load function! KERNEL32.dll GetLogicalProcessorInformation”

Today I want to teach you how to fix another Windows error “Failed to load function! KERNEL32.dll GetLogicalProcessorInformation”, also known as “FATAL ERROR! Failed to get proc address for GetLogicalProcessorInformation (KERNEL32.dll)”. This error occurs when you start different applications (including Skype older than version 6.6):
Failed to load function! KERNEL32.dll GetLogicalProcessorInformation

As a rule, this error is encountered only by users of the Windows XP and only if Service Pack 3 is not installed. For other, newer operating systems of the Windows family, this error should not occur (at least I have never heard of it).

Solution

Accordingly, to fix this error, you need to install Service Pack 3 for Windows XP — this is the most correct and quickest fix. More information about SP3 can be found on the page http://www.skaip.org/sp3-for-windows-xp

For those who are wondering why this error occurs: this is due to the fact that at startup the application cannot find the function GetLogicalProcessorInformation from Kernel32.lib library (this function obtains information about the logical processors and related hardware). Since this function was added in Windows XP SP3, applications running on older OSs stop working when they call this function.
